CIUS 50th Anniversary Exhibit: Shaping Knowledge and Community
Celebrate half a century of groundbreaking Ukrainian scholarship with the Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies and the University of Alberta Library.
You are invited to view “Shaping Knowledge and Community: A CIUS 50th Anniversary Exhibit,” chronicling five decades of impactful research, publishing, and international collaboration. From preserving censorship-free scholarship during the Soviet era with projects like the five-volume Encyclopedia of Ukraine to advancing modern initiatives in Crimean Tatar studies and Indigenous-Ukrainian relations, explore how a vision launched in 1976 grew into an institution of global reach.
This exhibit will be open to all visitors in the University of Alberta’s Rutherford Library South Foyer from 22 September through 22 October 2026, before moving to University Commons from 23 October through 6 November 2026.
Attendees of the Recentring the Humanities: Ukraine and the World International Symposium can also view the display at the Edmonton Convention Centre on 29 and 30 October 2026.
