Marking the 100th Anniversary of the official end of Canada’s First National Internment Operations (1914–1920), June 1–20, 2020.
Today, June 20, 2020, Canada commemorates the centenary of the end of Canada’s first national internment operations.
“[…] Thousands of people were discriminated against not because of anything they had done, but because of who they were and from where they had come,” stated Borys Sydoruk, Chair of the UCC Internment Centenary Committee. Through learning about and acknowledging the bitter lessons of the past, we reaffirm our commitment to the principles of freedom and dignity of all human beings.”
