Ukrainian Film Screening

On the eve of the celebration of the ancient Ukrainian holiday, Malanka, we invite you to watch the classical Ukrainian movie, Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors, telling the love and tragic story of a Ukrainian Romeo and Juliet, as well as a modern coming-of-age movie, Stop-Zemlia, about Ukrainian teenagers and their worries, hopes, and dreams. Both films will have English subtitles. Afterwards, we will have a Q&A session with the director of Stop-Zemlia, and a lecture about one of the greatest Armenian-Ukrainian directors, Sergei Parajanov, screenwriter of Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors.
Please be aware: Though dealing with important social and cultural issues, the films in this event include mature themes, depictions of violence, drug and alcohol use, strong language and brief nudity. The event is intended for an 18+ audience.
