Governor General Visit to Edmonton
August 31, 2005

The Right Honourable Adrienne Clarkson, Governor General of Canada visited Edmonton on August 31, 2005 with her husband, John Raulston-Saul.

At Edmonton's City Hall, the Governor General presented Orysia Sushko, President of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) with a Certificate of Commendation for the UCC's work in organizing Election Observers for the 2004 Presidential Elections in Ukraine.

The Honourable Anne McLellan gave greetings on behalf of the Federal Government, The Honourable Ed Stelmach spoke on behalf of the Provincial Government, and His Worship Stephen Mandel spoke on behalf of the City of Edmonton.

The Ukrainian Male Chorus of Edmonton provided some stirring entertainment with 3 songs and the National Anthems.

Members of the Cheremosh Ukrainian Dance Ensemble danced a smaller version of their exciting Hopak. The UCC-APC thanks all volunteers, coordinators, and participants who helped make this event a success.
