Harvest of the Past & Taste of Heritage Food Fest

DateSunday, 9-Sep-2012
Time9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
One of the best harvest events in Canada will take visitors back to Alberta’s agricultural roots.
This final special event of the Village’s summer season begins with a pancake breakfast and includes historic activities such as flower and herb drying, feather stripping, kapusta (sour cabbage) making, wheat grinding, quilting, and canning of produce from the site’s heritage gardens.
Witness an old-fashioned threshing bee with vintage farm equipment, as well as other harvest activities including stooking, winnowing and flailing, and grain deliveries to the historic elevator.
The heritage food festival offers a unique culinary experience, while the Kalyna Idol talent competition showcases tomorrow’s singing stars.
Visitors will also enjoy historical exhibits, a village market, wagon rides, and musical entertainment throughout the day.
